Ticket to Paradise

“You live. You learn. You upgrade.”

David: You know, telling someone to calm down has literally never calmed anyone down in the history of the universe.

Georgia: See you again. Never.
David: Hopefully not that soon.

Georgia: That’s my armrest.
David: No, it’s in the middle.
Georgia: This is so like you. Take, take, take.
David: It is not a metaphor. It is an armrest.

Lily: So you promise? No mean comments. No passive aggression.
Georgia: What about aggressive aggression? Is that okay?

Lily: You’re just like all parents, acting like you’re giving your kid this great advice for their own good, but all you’re really doing is talking to your young, dumb selves, trying to rewrite the past and not do whatever you did 25 years ago.

Wren: Yeah, I’ve been thinking about that, and I really don’t think this whole “being an adult” thing is gonna work out for me.

  • Despite being set in Bali, Indonesia, the film was filmed in Queensland, Australia.
  • A license is required to drive a boat in Australia, so Maxime Bouttier (Gede) had to take his practical and written exams within two weeks and scored 97%. He had to put the boat license to use on the first day of shooting, with big wind and big ships…and George Clooney and Kaitlyn Dever in the boat with him.
  • The fifth film for co-stars George Clooney and Julia Roberts after Ocean’s Eleven (2001), Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002), Ocean’s Twelve (2004), and Money Monster (2016).
  • George Clooney’s character makes a comment about an “age-appropriate date”. This is a reference to Clooney himself, who has a long history of being romantically linked with significantly younger women. His wife, Amal Clooney, is seventeen years younger than he.
  • Lucas Bravo, the actor who plays Julia Roberts’s boyfriend Paul (who keeps proposing to her), is 21 years younger than she is.
  • When David calls Georgia, the name that appears on her mobile for the incoming call is “Him”.
  • In the gag reel at the end, the flight attendant spills the champagne all over George Clooney, and Julia Roberts says, “It’s just George Clooney, we have another one.” Clooney jokes, “1-800-Brad-Pitt!” This is a reference to Ocean’s Eleven (2001). The three starred in the film together, and Clooney and Roberts had a similar situation in their relationship.
