Thursday Movie Picks: Falsely Accused

Wandering through the Shelves hosts a weekly movie challenge in which you choose 3-5 movies based on that Thursday’s theme and explain why you chose those movies.

Today’s theme is Falsely Accused, so here are my choices!

Gone Girl (2014)

After his wife Amy goes missing on their anniversary, Nick becomes the prime suspect in her disappearance. Nick is a terrible person, but did he really murder his wife? This movie is bonkers and amazing and I have to be in just the right kind of mood to watch it. But I think it’s brilliant and still think Rosamund Pike should have won the Oscar.

The Shawshank Redemption (1994)

Andy Dufresne gets sentenced to two life terms for the murder of his wife and her lover… but he maintains his innocence, even as he is sent to a pretty rough prison. The Shawshank Redemption is one of the best adaptations of Stephen King’s work, and looking back now, I wish it had won the Oscar for Best Picture. The third act is thrilling, and it stays with you for a long time after the credits have rolled.

Legally Blonde (2001)

After getting into Harvard Law to win back her boyfriend, Elle (Reese Witherspoon) finds herself on the legal team defending Brooke Windham, a woman accused of killing her husband. I really do adore this movie and the way Elle defies all expectations of her. The entire movie is fun, but I especially love watching Elle figure out the true murderer while they’re on the witness stand.
