TMP Television Edition: Workplace Romance

Workplace Romance

Wandering through the Shelves hosts a weekly movie challenge in which you choose 3-5 movies based on that Thursday’s theme and explain why you chose those movies.

Today’s theme is Workplace Romance (Television Edition).

Jake & Amy (Brooklyn Nine-Nine)

Two police detectives at the 99th Precinct in Brooklyn, Jake and Amy are the epitome of opposites attract. Amy (Melissa Fumero) is a Type-A perfectionist with a love of pens and organization. Jake (Andy Samberg) is a man child who doesn’t pay his bills and has daddy issues. Watching them go from colleagues to friends to lovers is such a joy, and I truly appreciate that the show didn’t play around with an on-again-off-again relationship here. Once Jake and Amy committed, they committed.

David & Patrick (Schitt's Creek)

Ahhhh. I love these two so much. Schitt’s Creek is a fantastic show, and by the time David meets down-to-earth Patrick, we’re more than ready to see David finally find some happiness. Patrick was exactly the kind of guy David needed in his life, and it’s simply the best to watch them go from business partners to something more.

Mulder & Scully (The X-Files)

My precious babies. The X-Files is one of my all-time favorite shows, and the Mulder and Scully relationship was vital to the show’s success. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson have amazing chemistry, and I would have loved them together even if their relationship had never strayed into the area of romance. Even when it did, it never overshadowed the point of the show. They’re still one of my favorite television couples.
