Are you stuck inside due to cold temperatures, rain, and snow like I am? I can’t remember the last time I saw the sun! And it’s still January? How? Has January always been this long? Anyway, if you’re like me and living in a freezing tundra, I’ve got ten movies that might get you through until those spring flowers begin to bloom.

01. About a Boy (2003)

Will, a rich, child-free, and irresponsible Londoner in his thirties, is in search of available women. He invents an imaginary son and starts attending single-parent meetings. As a result of one of his liaisons, he meets Marcus, an odd 12-year-old boy with problems at school. Gradually, Will and Marcus become friends, and as Will teaches Marcus how to be a cool kid, Marcus helps Will to finally grow up.

02. Bell, Book and Candle (1958)

Gillian Holroyd is a modern-day witch living in New York City’s Greenwich Village. When she encounters charming publisher Shepherd Henderson, she decides to make him hers by casting a love spell, because Henderson is engaged to her old college rival. However, Gillian finds herself actually falling for Shepherd, which poses a problem: She will lose her powers if she falls in love.

03. The Truth About Cats and Dogs (1996)

Abby hosts a popular radio show about pets. When Brian calls in to ask about his quirky Great Dane, the two surprisingly hit it off. Brian pushes for a date with Abby, who is shy and a bit insecure, so she talks her ditzy neighbor Noelle into taking her place. While the confused and oblivious Brian tries to figure out why his date is so different from the host he spoke to, Abby must work up the nerve to confess, as Noelle is also falling for Brian.

04. Three Coins in a Fountain (1954)

Three hopeful American secretaries visiting Italy — newcomer Maria, romance-seeking Anita, and the more mature Frances — fling their coins into Rome’s Trevi Fountain, each making a wish. Soon, Maria is pursued by a dashing prince, Anita finds herself involved with a forbidden coworker, and Frances receives a surprising proposal from her boss.

However, a recipe for disaster may be in the works when she becomes the guardian of her young niece (Abigail Breslin) while crossing forks with the brash sous chef who just joined her staff. Though romance blooms in the face of rivalry, Kate needs to look outside the kitchen to find true happiness.

08. The Cutting Edge (1992)

Stuck-up figure skating whiz Kate Moseley is denied a gold medal at the 1988 Olympics after a fall. As Kate drives off partner after partner, her coach, Anton, must quickly find her a new one in order to be ready for the next Olympics. Enter arrogant former Olympic hockey player Doug Dorsey, who briefly encountered Kate years before. Reluctantly teaming up, Kate and Doug’s icy rapport begins to thaw, resulting in a chemistry both in and out of the rink.

09. Moonstruck (1997)

No sooner does Italian-American widow Loretta (Cher) accept a marriage proposal from her doltish boyfriend, Johnny, than she finds herself falling for his younger brother, Ronny. 10. The Sure Thing (1986)

Everyone deserves a great love story, but for 17-year-old Simon Spier, it’s a little more complicated. He hasn’t told his family or friends that he’s gay, and he doesn’t know the identity of the anonymous classmate that he’s fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, terrifying and life-changing.
