• Bree Turner, who plays the bride needing comforting by Jennifer Lopez at the beginning of the movie, also appeared in another wedding movie as a bridesmaid in the opening title sequence of My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997). Fan theories claim it was her playing the same character, still unlucky in love.
• Brendan Fraser was set to play the role of Dr. Steve/Eddie, but scheduling conflicts with filming Bedazzled (2000) prevented him from doing so.
• The taxi driver at the beginning of the movie, who hits the dumpster that Steve saves Mary from, is the same taxi driver who drives Steve to City Hall towards the end of the movie.
• Minnie Driver turned down the lead role.
• The film seen at the end of the movie is “Flirtation Walk” from 1934.
