In the book, Bridget Jones is obsessed with Colin Firth from Pride and Prejudice (1995) and even gets to interview him. This plotline is omitted from this movie, where Firth played her love interest, Mark Darcy. They did, however, film the interview scene with Colin dressed in his street clothes and Renée Zellweger in character. The scene is included in the DVD extras.
Like the first film, the fight between Mark and Daniel, which took place around and in the fountain, was not choreographed.
Daniel Cleaver had only a minor role in the book, but the character proved so memorable and popular that his part was significantly expanded for the film adaptation.
The book that Jed and Shazza read on the plane is “The Beach” by Alex Garland, which also takes place in part in Thailand.
The Edge of Reason is set 4 weeks after the events of the first film.
