Dale Dickey “Shocked” by Emmy Nomination

In an interview with Vulture, Hollywood veteran Dale Dickey expressed her shock when she discovered she was one of six women nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy.

“I knew there was some love for Widow’s Bay and I was very ecstatic, so I went on my computer and I thought, Okay, I’ll just scroll through the rest of them. And I’m scrolling and I get to Supporting Actors in a Comedy, and as I’m scrolling, I see my fucking face – excuse my language – but I’m like, “No, why is that … What?!” I mean, look, I thoroughly expected and knew that Kate would be on the list, and she’s got my vote if I could vote in my category. But it was out of left field for me.”

Since her screen debut in 1994, Dickey has appeared in over 60 movies and has enjoyed numerous recurring television roles on shows such as My Name is Earl, Breaking Bad, and Justified. She’s been called the quintessential character actor and has received critical acclaim for her performances in 2010’s Winter’s Bone and the 2022 romantic drama, A Love Song.

This is Dickey’s first Emmy nomination. She’ll be competing with fellow Widow’s Bay actor, Kate O’Flynn, Hannah Einbinder (Hacks), Michelle Pfeiffer (Margo’s Got Money Troubles), Megan Stalter (Hacks), Janelle James (Abbott Elementary) and Jessica Williams (Shrinking).

The 78th Emmy Awards will be broadcast live on Peacock on September 14th, 2026.
