Biography

Chad Hodge is a television writer, producer, and playwright raised in Highland Park, Illinois. After performing in local theater throughout his youth, he attended Northwestern University, graduating magna cum laude in 1999 with a degree in communication studies and business. Inspired to pursue screenwriting after reading the script for American Beauty during a summer internship, he briefly worked as a talent agency assistant before leaving to focus entirely on writing while working as a waiter.

Hodge got his professional break in 2001 writing the NBC series All About Us, quickly transitioning into primetime television with shows like Tru Calling and several TV movies. He went on to create multiple high-profile drama series, including Runaway (The CW’s first drama), NBC’s The Playboy Club, Fox’s hit mystery series Wayward Pines, and TNT’s critically acclaimed Good Behavior. Beyond television, Hodge co-wrote the Broadway stage adaptation of Irving Berlin’s Holiday Inn, penned the screenplay for the YA feature film The Darkest Minds (2018), and wrote Netflix’s inaugural gay holiday rom-com Single All the Way (2021).
