The Against the Crowd Blogathon 2021 is being hosted by Dell on Movies, and you can read more about it here! Basically, you chose two movies from Rotten Tomatoes – one to go against and one to defend. The movie you go against should have a Fresh rating of 75% or more, and the movie you defend should have a Rotten at 35% or less. And, if you decide to take part, make sure you use the hashtag #AgainsttheCrowd2021 on social media! So, without further ado, here are my two choices for the Against the Crowd Blogathon 2021! Frozen – 89% on Rotten Tomatoes. This movie was huge. It still is, to be honest. I don’t think Frozen is a terrible film, but when I watched it, I honestly didn’t understand the hype. I didn’t really like any of the characters and the songs were pretty mediocre, though okay, fine, Let It Go was pretty catchy the first gazillion times I heard it. And having three girls, I heard it a lot. It seems silly to compare the two, but given they were released within three years of each other, I really wish Tangled had gotten the kind of attention that Frozen did. To me, Tangled is a far superior movie. I don’t know what it is about Frozen, but I just don’t like it, and I can’t quite grasp how it’s so popular. Practical Magic – 26% on Rotten Tomatoes. How does this movie have a 26% rotten score? This is why I hate Rotten Tomatoes! Practical Magic is not cinema, but it’s such a romantic, cozy movie. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman both shine on the screen, and you can never go wrong with Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest! A tale of magic, curses, and sisterhood… oh man, is this Frozen?? (just kidding). If there is a movie that just begs to be watched around autumn, it’s Practical Magic, and it deserves much more love than those RT critics (boo on them).
