Thursday Movie Picks: Mazes

Mazes

Wandering through the Shelves hosts a weekly movie challenge in which you choose 3-5 movies based on that Thursday’s theme and explain why you chose those movies.

Today’s theme is Mazes, so here are my choices!

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)

Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts for Year Five, where he’s mysteriously chosen to partake in the Tri-Wizard Tournament, competing against Champions from two other wizarding schools, as well as Hufflepuff Cedric Diggory. The remaining task is a large maze that the champions must navigate to reach the Triwizard Cup.

The Maze Runner (2014)

One of the few movies where I actually prefer the movie over the book. This is a fun flick where a boy named Thomas wakes up in the Glade without a memory of his previous life. What seems like a Lord of the Flies-esque story becomes much more than that when Thomas finds out he and the others are all part of a larger experiment.

Labyrinth (1986)

The maze movie of all maze movies! “Through dangers untold. And hardships unnumbered. I have fought my way here to the castle; beyond the goblin city, to take back the child that you have stolen…” Labyrinth is a classic and one of the first movies that I remember being seriously obsessed with when I first saw it as a child. I still watch it from time to time, and it’s so comforting.
