Thursday Movie Picks: Psychic and Mediums: Wandering through the Shelves hosts a weekly movie challenge in which you choose 3-5 movies based on that Thursday’s theme and explain why you chose those movies. Today’s theme is Psychics and Mediums so here are my choices!

Ghost (1990)

Patrick Swayze is killed and finds a psychic to help him reconnect and potentially save the life of his girlfriend. That psychic happens to be Oda Mae Brown, played by Whoopi Goldberg to comedic perfection. I love this movie, although it still makes me ugly cry, and Goldberg 100% earned her Oscar for Best Supporting Actress that year.

The gift (2000)

I haven’t seen The Gift in quite some time, so I’m not sure if it is as good as it was back in 2000, but I remember really enjoying it. It is a fun thriller starring the fabulous Cate Blanchett as a clairvoyant who gets involved in the disappearance of a young socialite. The cast also includes Keanu Reeves, Giovanni Ribisi, Greg Kinnear, Hilary Swank, and Katie Holmes. I may need to watch this one again soon!

Push (2009)

I know this movie got a lot of bad reviews, but whatever, I thought it was fun as hell. It’s a movie about a bunch of psychics on the run from a dark government operative. Chris Evans (yummy) is a telekinetic looking to get revenge on the Division for the assassination of his father. Dakota Fanning is a clairvoyant who joins in on the plan. Push is silly, but that’s what I enjoy about it.
