Bros Synopsis: Two men with commitment problems attempt a relationship.

Bobby is a successful podcaster who has recently accepted a position as a curator for the upcoming new National LGBTQ+ History Museum in Manhattan and has no time for a relationship. Then he meets Aaron, a good-looking estate attorney who enjoys playing the field. Almost reluctantly, they begin to navigate their attraction to each other.

I’ve looked forward to seeing this movie since it was first announced. I understand that Billy Eichner is an acquired taste for some, but I find him delightful. He pares down the intensity but maintains his passion, giving Bobby the right amount of depth and vulnerability.

Luke Macfarlane as Aaron is Bobby’s perfect foil. I can’t go so far as to call Aaron a himbo because he’s pretty intelligent, but he still comes across as someone who hasn’t quite figured things out and is content with the status quo. He feels out of place in Bobby’s high(er) profile lifestyle, deepening his uncertainty about being with Bobby. It’s a true opposites attract rom-com, and I am here for it.

Eichner and Macfarlane are perfectly cast together because Bobby and Aaron’s chemistry is so lovely in this movie. When they finally push past their commitment fears and let their guards down, the magic happens, and this is where Bros shines.

The supporting cast is fantastic, and if you love Will and Grace – hell, even if you don’t – you will definitely appreciate Debra Messing’s cameo. This film has so many bright personalities that it’s impossible not to enjoy yourself.

Eichner and director Nicholas Stoller wrote the movie, and finding a real flaw is challenging. Bros is funny as hell, sweet as hell, and essentially everything you want to see in a romantic comedy. It hits so many classic tropes and executes them perfectly.

Bros did not let me down! It’s a romantic comedy that has found a spot on my rewatchable list. It may not have been a smash at the box office, but this feels like a movie that will find its audience on streaming and be beloved by fans of the genre for years to come.
