The Princess Switch Synopsis: Competing in a Christmas baking competition in Belgravia, a Chicago baker bumps into the prince’s fiancée–who looks just like her. They switch lives for two days.

When her sous chef, Kevin, entered her in a prestigious baking competition, Stacy traveled to the kingdom of Belgravia to take part. There with Kevin and his daughter, Olivia, Stacy tries to stick to a strict schedule but is thrown when she runs into the Prince of Belgravia’s public-shy fiancee, Margaret.

It turns out that Margaret and Stacy are identical in every way except for their personalities. Desperate to experience life as a “normal” person as her wedding rapidly approaches, Margaret convinces Stacy to switch places with her for two days. After a rather quick tutorial on how each other should speak and walk, Stacy and Margaret part ways.

Over the course of the next two days, Stacy surprises the rather stiff Prince Edward (Sam Palladio) with how to loosen up and have fun, not to mention the art of giving back to those in need. Margaret enjoys spending time with Kevin (Nick Sagar) and Olivia, roaming Belgravia as a civilian without any fundamental obligations or expectations.

Olivia quickly deduces that “Stacy” is not Stacy, but she is willing to keep the secret. The Princess Switch focuses on Stacy and Margaret adapting quite quickly to one another’s lifestyles. Stacy begins to fall in love with Prince Edward, while Margaret starts to believe Kevin is the real prince.

Yes, this movie has some ridiculous aspects, including both Margaret and Stacy falling in love with Kevin and Edward over just two days, but these kinds of movies aren’t asking you to live in the real world. They want you to live in Belgravia, where reality is discouraged.

What makes The Princess Switch more enjoyable than A Christmas Prince is that Vanessa Hudgens makes for a far more interesting lead (x2). There are also some genuinely humorous moments, and while I found Prince Edward to be a bit bland on his own, Palladio and Hudgens share some cute chemistry. The Princess Switch is a pretty silly movie, but I enjoyed it. If you’re looking for fun, mindless fluff, add this one to your watch list.
