Thursday Movie Picks: Female Bosses

Thursday Movie Picks: Female Bosses: Wandering through the Shelves hosts a weekly movie challenge in which you choose 3-5 movies based on that Thursday’s theme and explain why you chose those movies. Today’s theme is Female Bosses, so here are my choices! I decided to stick close to the theme of my entire blog – romance!

MARGARET TATE (THE PROPOSAL)

Margaret Tate is a boss bitch who blackmails/bribes her assistant into marrying her so she doesn’t get deported. Not very ethical, Margaret. But we get to watch Sandy B. and Ryan Reynolds snark and snipe at each other before falling in love. So yay.

KIRSTEN STEVENS (SET IT UP)

Lucy Liu is a demanding boss, making it nearly impossible for her assistant, Harper, to have anything remotely resembling a social life. So Harper and another overworked assistant, Charlie, conspire to set Kirsten up with Charlie’s boss, Richard (Taye Diggs). Kirsten can come across as unbearable, but she does redeem herself near the end.

MIRANDA PRIESTLY (THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA)

The lady boss of all lady bosses. Played to perfection by Meryl Streep, Miranda Priestly is demanding (almost irrationally so), blunt, and terrifying. But of course, we get glimpses of vulnerability beneath the icy exterior, making Miranda such an amazing character.

What do you think?
