If you’ve got Netflix and you’re looking for a romantic comedy to watch, I’ve got the 10 Best Romantic Comedies to watch on the streaming service as of today, April 9th, 2022. Please remember that this list is only comprised of movies I’ve seen. Many are Netflix originals, so they should always be available to you. Meanwhile, a few may end up being taken off the service eventually. If that’s the case, check out Just Watch to find out where they may be streaming next!

01. Something’s Gotta Give (2003)

Harry Sanborn is an aged music industry exec with a fondness for younger women like Marin, his latest trophy girlfriend. Things get a little awkward when Harry suffers a heart attack at the home of Marin’s mother, Erica. Left in the care of Erica and his doctor, a love triangle starts to take shape. Directed by Nancy Meyers and starring Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton – both at their very best here – Something’s Gotta Give is a must-see for any genre fan.

02. About Time (2013)

The night after another unsatisfactory New Year party, Tim’s father tells his son that the men in his family can travel through time. Tim can’t change history, but he can change what happens and has happened in his own life – so he decides to make his world a better place… by getting a girlfriend. Sadly, that turns out not to be as easy as he thinks. In this film, Rachel McAdams and Domhnall Gleeson shine as their characters discover all of the little moments that make our lives what they are.

03. Catch and Release (2006)

Gray Wheeler just lost everything. But it could be the best thing that ever happened to her. After the death of her fiancé, Gray moves in with her late love’s best friends. While Sam and Dennis do their best to cheer Gray up, Fritz doesn’t seem to care. Once Gray breaks through Fritz’s defenses, she learns that her chances for love have not died out with her fiancé. But when some surprise guests show up on their doorstep, it’ll take the love of all of her new friends to help Gray learn that life may be messy, but love is messier. Catch and Release is a highly underrated romantic comedy with fantastic performances from Jennifer Garner and Timothy Olyphant.

04. Always Be My Maybe (2019)

Reunited after 15 years, famous chef Sasha and hometown musician Marcus feel the old sparks of attraction but struggle to adapt to each other’s worlds. While probably best known for Keanu Reeves’s cameo as himself, Always Be My Maybe is a fantastic romantic comedy directed by Nahnatchka Kahn. Ali Wong and Randall Park are so good together. If you haven’t seen it yet, you’re really missing out.

05. Set It Up (2018)

Two overworked and underpaid assistants devise a plan to get their bosses off their backs by setting them up with each other. One of Netflix’s first movies that gave me hope that the streaming service would continue churning out smartly written rom-coms before they jumped headfirst into competition with Hallmark. But Set It Up is witty, funny, and full of insane chemistry between Zoey Deutch and Glen Powell. Lucy Liu and Taye Diggs are bonuses.

06. Just Like Heaven (2005)

Shortly after David Abbott moves into his new San Francisco digs, he has an unwelcome visitor on his hands: winsome Elizabeth Martinson, who asserts that the apartment is hers – and promptly vanishes. When she starts appearing and disappearing at will, David thinks she’s a ghost, while Elizabeth is convinced she’s alive. Mark Ruffalo + Reese Witherspoon… do you need any more convincing than that?!

07. Silver Linings Playbook (2012)

After spending eight months in a mental institution, a former teacher moves back in with his parents and tries to reconcile with his ex-wife. Nominated for 8 Oscars, Silver Linings Playbook is more of a romantic dramedy, but a fantastic one. Jennifer Lawrence 100% deserves her Oscar for her role as Tiffany, and Bradley Cooper has never been better as Pat. This is a must-see movie, even if you’re not a romantic comedy fan.

08. My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997)

When she receives word that her longtime platonic pal Michael O’Neal is getting married to debutante Kimberly Wallace, food critic Julianne Potter realizes her true feelings for Michael – and sets out to sabotage the wedding. A rom-com classic, Julia Roberts takes on what some could argue is a villainous role as Jules Potter, and yet, she’s Julia Roberts, so it’s hard to dislike her, right? This movie is funny as hell, with some fantastic scenes and an excellent supporting cast.

09. Midnight in Paris (2011)

A romantic comedy about a family traveling to the French capital for business. The party includes a young, engaged couple forced to confront the illusion that a different life is better. The cast is fantastic… Rachel McAdams, Owen Wilson, Marion Cotillard, Michael Sheen, Tom Hiddleston, Alison Pill, Corey Stoll… I could go on, but you get the point. The premise is fun as Gil (Owen Wilson) gets sucked back in time to meet his writing heroes. I’m not a fan of Woody Allen, but I enjoy this movie.

10. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (2018)

Lara Jean’s love life goes from imaginary to out of control when her secret letters to every boy she’s ever fallen for are mysteriously mailed out. A trilogy on Netflix, TATBILB is still the best film of the three, and you’re not missing out on much if you only watch the first movie, as it ties up nicely at the end. This was such a cute movie! And while this almost never happens, I loved the movie more than the book. Lara Jean and Peter 4Eva!
